Technique Tuesday - Bridge Pose Part 1

Let’s start a new Technique Tuesday series where we look at Bridge Pose, sometimes also called glute bridges or pelvic thrusts, depending on the setting you are in. These are great movements to help mobility, strength and flexibility in the glutes, hips and low back. The great thing is that these are suitable for almost everyone, except those with uncontrolled high blood pressure, pressure issues in the head or eyes, or are in the late stages of pregnancy, where the baby is already engaged. However, the wonderful thing about these is that even if you have back pain, or have a hard time getting down to the floor, you can do these in a bed or even on a couch, provided you are stable on that surface. If you are in acute pain, I would recommend not doing this until your pain has subsided, and of course, always talk to your doctor, primary care physician, physiotherapist or another doctor if you have any health concerns or questions about the suitability of this movement for your body.
