Wellness Wednesday - Let's Spring Clean Ep1

May 04, 2022

It's Wellness Wednesday and I decided to start Spring Cleaning. Ugh. Help me now! I haven't really deep cleaned my house since I started my yoga studio in 2018, and I'm regretting ignoring it.

Don't get me wrong, I cleaned. But it was mostly surface stuff: dusting, tidying, sweeping and mopping, laundry, rotating foods in the pantry to keep from finding science experiments one day in the future.

The usual stuff.

But I didn't do the really deep stuff that needs to be done every spring, or if I'm honest, every spring and fall.

So now here I am.

I couldn't walk into my pantry, I had a bunch of stuff in there that didn't really belong, and I was losing track of what was in there, realizing I didn't have an ingredient when cooking, or coming home from the grocery store to discover I already had 4 pasta sauces in there that I hadn't seen before I left.

So, it was time.

It took over 6-1/2 hours, but it got done.

Surprisingly few things were expired (though I had one baking powder package from 4 years ago - oops!), so I didn't have to waste food, and I was able to get rid of a bunch of packaging and condense what I had.

Now it looks so shiny and clean and fresh! I am so happy with how it turned out, it is much more logical to how I run my kitchen, and I can easily walk in and see everything I have, and everything I need.

I used some new cleaning products which I will talk about in future, stay tuned for that!

While a cleaning video may not seem like a "wellness" post, I encourage you to do some deep cleaning and feel how much more organized your space seems, how much healthier the air quality is, and how much lighter you feel mentally when you re-enter the space.

What is your order for spring cleaning?
