Exercise Doesn't Have to Look Perfect | How-To Bloopers
Sep 03, 2026Does exercise have to look perfect to be worthwhile? Absolutely not.
Usually, my weekly How-To videos show you a movement, modification or technique you can try.
This week we're learning something a little different. 😂
Welcome to the How-To Bloopers.
Because behind those short, tidy videos are forgotten words, awkward movements, things that don't work quite the way I expected, multiple takes... and occasionally (okay, often) me wondering what on earth I'm doing.
And I think that's worth showing too.
Movement is allowed to be messy
It's easy to look at fitness and yoga videos online and assume everyone else knows exactly what they're doing.
They don't.
We're all learning.
Sometimes you wobble in a yoga pose. Sometimes you forget which side you're on. Sometimes an exercise feels completely different than you expected. Sometimes your coordination apparently takes the afternoon off, and it feels like the first time you've ever stood on two feet.
None of that means the movement didn't count.
You don't have to perform your workout—or your yoga practice—for anybody.
You get to learn, experiment, laugh, make adjustments and try again.
A different kind of How-To...
So this week's How-To isn't about perfect form.
It's about remembering:
✨ You don't have to look graceful.
✨ You don't have to get everything right the first time (or at all).
✨ You don't have to look like the person in the video.
✨ And you are absolutely allowed to laugh at yourself.
Movement can be useful and imperfect.
It can be challenging and fun.
And sometimes the thing that doesn't go according to plan makes the best part of the video or your practice. 😂
Remember...
We don't force your body into the movement—we fit the movement to your body.
And apparently, sometimes we don't force the video either. 😉
