From a Room Full of Pasta to Two Small Bins: Help Us Fill the Food Bank Shelves
Oct 17, 2026A few years ago, when I first started organizing the Yoga Harvest Food Bank Fundraiser, I visited Community Food Share and saw something amazing.
An entire room filled with shelves of pasta.
There was so much pasta that they actually asked me to encourage people to donate other foods instead!
Fast-forward to today.
There are just two small bins of pasta left.
And that difference is heartbreaking.
Our local Community Food Share Food Banks, serving Dundas and Stormont Counties, are struggling to keep their shelves stocked while the need for food continues.
The Winchester location alone serves approximately 60 families every week.
These are our neighbours. Families with children, seniors, and people in our community who need a little help putting food on the table.
And right now, they need our help.

What Does the Food Bank Need?
The short answer? Everything.
But some of the most urgently needed items include:
-
Canned meats and protein sources, such as tuna and other canned meats
-
Beans and legumes, including chickpeas and black beans
-
School-safe foods for children, including nut-free lunch and snack options
-
Other non-perishable food items to help stock the shelves
Every donation matters, whether it's a few cans of food, a bag of groceries, or a financial contribution.
Yoga Harvest Is Tomorrow — And We're So Close to Our Goal!
Tomorrow, Sunday, October 18, 2026, we're gathering for our 4th Annual Yoga Harvest Food Bank Fundraiser.
Thanks to our incredible community, we've already raised $1,600 toward our $2,000 goal!
That's 80% of the way there!
We have just $400 left to raise, and with your help, I believe we can do it.
Join us for a gentle, beginner-friendly yoga and mindfulness practice, or simply make a donation to support Community Food Share.

Let's Fill Those Shelves Again
I would love nothing more than to visit Community Food Share in the future and see those shelves overflowing with food again.
Not because people don't need help, but because our community has come together to make sure that help is available when they do.
Thank you to everyone who has donated, sponsored, shared our posts, or helped spread the word.
Tomorrow, let's show what our community can do when we care for one another.
Cheers,
Meg 💛
