HealthRex Does Chest Press: When Getting on the Floor Doesn't Work for Your Body 🦖
Aug 21, 2026A dumbbell chest press is often demonstrated lying on your back.
But what if getting down onto the floor—or back up again—doesn't work well for your body?
HealthRex has encountered exactly that problem. 🦖
With a large T. rex body, tiny arms and a couple of dumbbells, a traditional floor chest press isn't exactly the most practical option.
So instead of deciding the exercise is off-limits, HealthRex finds another way to work.
Can't do it that way? Try this instead.
The goal of an exercise isn't necessarily to recreate one specific position.
A chest press is a pushing movement that primarily works the chest, with help from the shoulders and triceps. Depending on your body, mobility, equipment and comfort, there may be other ways to work on that same movement pattern.
That might mean changing your position, changing your equipment, reducing your range of motion or choosing a different exercise altogether.
The important question isn't:
"Can I make my body do this exercise exactly as demonstrated?"
It's:
"What am I trying to accomplish, and what's a comfortable way for my body to work toward that?"
HealthRex's reminder
🦖 Different bodies need different options.
🦖 An exercise can change while the goal stays the same.
🦖 Using a chair isn't "less than."
🦖 And sometimes tiny arms require creative problem-solving. 😂
Remember...
We don't force your body into the movement—we fit the movement to your body.
