How to Get the "Perfect" Pose? DON'T!

“How do I get the perfect yoga alignment/pose”? Is a question I get a lot, particularly from beginners.

You see, social media has shown us a lot of people doing very advanced postures, and many lineages will tout that a certain way of doing a posture is “correct”, leaving students feeling like a failure when their body won’t do it that way.

The truth is, we all have different bone structures, musculatures and injuries.

There is no single “right” way to do a  posture (safety concerns notwithstanding).

If it feels wrong or hurts, chances are your body ain’t meant to do it that way, even if a teacher says that it is the “proper alignment”.

Try modifying a posture with a teacher to help you find the best way for your body.

If it doesn’t feel right, it really doesn’t matter what it looks like!
