Thoughtful Thursday - Communicate to Heal

When things are hard, when you're having a bad day, it can seem even harder to talk about it.

We've been taught to keep a stiff upper lip, or, worse, to "man up" (I personally really hate that one).

We've been taught to not be so emotional, not complain, that "other people have it worse".

But that really isn't true.

And it isn't going to help you with your hardships.

So it comes down to this:

When you're having a hard time, don't bottle it up. Don't hide it. Don't keep it all inside. 

Let someone in, let someone know you are going through difficulties. It's the only way anyone can know what is going on in your life, and it is the only way you can start to heal.

Some people won't understand, but they aren't your people. If you can, find a friend or a family member to talk to. If you need, talk to a therapist (best thing I've ever done, tbh).

But whatever it is, get it out. Get it all out.

You are worth telling your story. You are worth healing. You are worth others knowing what you're dealing with.
