How-To: Narrow Squats for Stronger Legs & Better Balance

Jul 23, 2026

Think all squats have to look the same? Think again.

A narrow squat is a simple variation that challenges your body in a different way than a traditional squat.

By bringing your feet closer together, you'll often notice your muscles working a little differently as your body has to work harder to stay balanced and stable throughout the movement. Want to increase the difficulty? Add a yoga block between the knees for an extra challenge to ensure you're squeezing the legs together evenly.

As always, don't worry about how low you squat. Focus on moving in a way that feels comfortable for your body while maintaining good control.

Remember...

We don't force your body into the movement—we fit the movement to your body.

If narrow squats don't feel right today, that's okay. Practice within your comfortable range and gradually build strength and confidence over time.
